What is the meaning of this comment from my fiance?

He was referring to a past relationship, one he had before me that lasted many years although not on any good terms. He said to me: "if she had been anything at all like you, I would still be with her now" This was during a conversation we were having in which he was declaring his devotion to our future. But in my own insecurities, I wondered if that means he wishes he was still with her?
