Microsoft Access Can't Find the Database File?

I am on the verge of a meltdown and would appreciate some help! I created an Access database for my department in November, and I have had no problems with it. I was on vacation last week and received a call that no one could get into the database (they weren't being prompted for a pword or anything). I asked if the Lockfile9 was present, and I was told that it was. I umed that when I got back I could delete the Lockfile9 and compact and repair the database. However, I just tried to get into the database, and the Lockfile9 is no longer there. When I click on the shortcut for the database, I am being told that Microsoft Access can't even find the database. IT has already been contacted, and they don't know what to do either. Is there anything I can do to salvage the database, or is all hope gone? Thanks in advance.
